Dear Families,
Welcome to a new year at Gladys Speers PS!
As we begin a new year, we hope you will consider being involved in the Gladys Speers Public School Parent Council. The nomination form is now online, and located under the School Council Tab on our school website http://gla..hdsb.ca. We are interested in engaging more parents on our council this year, and will have our first meeting in person at the school as we welcome parents into the building.
The role of our School Council is to provide parent feedback to our staff, coordinates support programs, organizes events like Dance-a-thons and/or Fun Fairs, provides services for lunch time such as weekly pizza day, as well as other fundraising initiatives to finance special programs and resources at the school.
All volunteers during the school day for some of these initiatives must have a Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Search on file at the office. Volunteers who have submitted their police check will also need to complete an offence declaration form found here.
Our first School Council meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2025 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the School Library. If you are interested in joining as a voting member, be sure to complete the nomination form by September 20, 2025 . All non-voting parents are always welcome to attend these meetings as well, and police check is not required to attend the evening meetings.
